Jérôme Vidal was appointed head of the mergers unit of the French Competition Authority (“FCA”), effective June 17, 2024. Jérôme Vidal succeeds Etienne Chantrel who had held this position since January 2017.
Before his appointment, Jérôme Vidal held several positions at the French Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) and the FCA. He spent three years at the European Commission as a seconded national expert to the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP). Jérôme Vidal also served as Head of the Competition and State Aid unit at the French General Secretariat for European Affairs to the Prime Minister and worked as an advisor to the former French Minister for Enterprises, Tourism and Consumer Affairs.
Jérôme Vidal’s entry in function ends a long transitional period at the FCA’s mergers unit.
