On 18 March 2020, the CAT published an application by the UK Consumers’ Association (Which?) to commence collective proceedings against Qualcomm Incorporated (Qualcomm). The claim seeks damages caused from Qualcomm relating to an alleged abuse of dominance in the LTE chipsets market by imposing supra-competitive royalties and refusing to licence its patents to rival chipset manufacturers. The proposed class includes all consumers who purchased LTE-enabled Apple or Samsung smartphones (excluding 5G/5G NR-enabled models) since 1 October 2015.
