On 26 June 2020, the CAT published a summary of a claim brought by Churchill Gowns and Student Gowns seeking damages from Ede & Ravenscroft, Radcliffe & Taylor, WM Northam & Company, and Irish Legal and Academic. The claimants allege that the defendants abused their dominant position in the market for the sale and hire of academic dress (in particular gowns and hoods) for use at graduation ceremonies in the UK through the conclusion of exclusivity agreements with certain universities. They also claim that these agreements breach the Chapter 1 Prohibition.
